Celebrating the district's famous cooking apple. A festival suitable for the serious foodie as well as the casual passer-by. Every year, people gather in the picturesque town of Southwell where the Bramley apple was first propagated more than 200 years ago. This years event is on Saturday 20 October and is the the 25th anniversary of the festival with special celebrations.
Held at Clumber Park in September, this food and drink festival features cooking demonstrations, food marquee and craft marquee. There are always plenty of samples so you can have taste of what's on offer and there will be plenty of food stalls ready to serve you up a well deserved lunch.
Southwell hosts 'Britain's biggest little festival' each June. English and Celtic music are at the core of the festival but they have expanded to embrace other roots music forms. Country, gypsy jazz, ska, rockabilly, blugrass, punk, traditional and contemporary music are all represented in this ever popular festival.

Taking place across three days from the 13th to 15th July 2018, this year’s theme will be Landscapes in Literature with the festival celebrating local literary heritage, fictional worlds, and highlighting the importance of location in fiction and non-fiction writing.
Held annually in June, this festival is a musical extravaganza for the people of Newark. Along with the big musical names, there are street entertainers, food and drink festival, fun fair and Newark Carnival.
The Robin Hood Festival happens every August in Sherwood Forest. Costumed characters roam the forest while music, jousting, theatre and much more bring the forest to life. There's also a funfair, food stands and lots of Robin Hood-themed activities which bring the legend to life.
