If you, your parish council, school or local community group would like to organise a voluntary litter picking event in your area, we can support you by providing equipment, black bags and high visibility vests. We can also collect the bags of litter at the end of your event.
Please call us on 01636 650000, if you would like bags and need to arrange a collection.
We recommend the use of gloves and litter-pickers where possible.
We want more businesses, community groups and individuals to take pride in their community and not drop litter.
Whether it’s as simple as picking up a piece of litter on your walk to the local shops, raising awareness of litter prevention or organising a litter pick in your local area, your support helps make the district a cleaner environment for everyone to enjoy.
Duke of Edinburgh Volunteering
If you are a parent manager of a local Duke of Edinburgh team and would like to consider litter picking for your group please get in touch.
Our waste management team will act as the assessor for your volunteer group and we can supply black bags and pick up the collected rubbish.
Plogging with Newark Striders Running Club
Newark Striders are taking care of Newark with a monthly plogging run (picking up litter while jogging).
Around 20 members of the running club regularly volunteer their time to help collect litter in Newark and the surrounding areas while keeping fit and having fun with friends.
Farnsfield Community Spaces is a volunteer group that helps look after the village keeping it clean and tidy. They plant up and look after the village flower troughs, plant spring bulbs, litter pick and help prepare for the annual best kept village competition and other village events.
Your name will be added to the community spaces mailing list. You will be sent updates on events and invitations to get involved. Dates for village clean-ups and litter picking are also advertised on the Farnsfield Parish Council website and Facebook page.
